Speaking at the 2020 Presidential Golf Challenge Fundraising Dinner, President Cyril Ramaphosa said: “Last year the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation was the beneficiary of the Presidential Golf Challenge, where over R5.3 million was raised. The funds that were raised were allocated to the work of the Foundation as well as for the construction of ablution facilities across South Africa.”
As a result of the funds raised, new ablution facilities have been constructed in four schools through the community-based infrastructure model of the Foundation’s partner entity, Adopt-a-School. The schools are Mandleni Junior Secondary School and Ixopo Junior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape, Mpucuko Primary School in KwaZulu-Natal, and Madikoti Putsoa Primary School in Limpopo. The schools were identified in partnership with the Department of Basic Education, in line with its Sanitation Appropriate for Education (SAFE) initiative. The projects began in mid- 2019 and are near completion.
